Champaign-Urbana shoppers have four Tuesday afternoons left to visit the Champaign Farmers Market before its 2026 outdoor season ends.

October 6, 13, 20 and 27 are the remaining dates, with shopping scheduled from 3 to 6 p.m. in downtown Champaign.

For anyone who has kept meaning to stop by, October offers a straightforward reason to put one visit on the calendar.

Four afternoons, one local routine

The Land Connection lists the season as running from May through October, and its calendar identifies October 27 as the final Tuesday.

That gives residents a short window to fit a market stop into an afternoon already filled with work, errands or school pickups.

Instead of planning a large shopping trip, consider choosing ingredients for one dinner or picking up bread and something fresh for the next morning.

Vendors advertise vegetables, fruit, meat, microgreens, baked goods, desserts, flowers and herbal products, although the selection depends on who attends.

The organizer updates its market map weekly to show participating vendors and their positions, making it worth checking before you leave.

Check the location before heading out

There is one detail readers should confirm: the organizer’s main market page describes the downtown plaza at Neil and Main, while its calendar lists Neil and Washington.

Both refer shoppers to downtown Champaign, but the differing intersections are a reason to consult the current market map rather than rely on an older saved address.

If the map does not resolve your question, The Land Connection lists 217-840-2128 as its contact number.

Checking the organizer’s current information is also sensible before making a special trip, particularly if your schedule leaves little room for a change.

A food-budget detail worth knowing

Shoppers who use SNAP can bring a Link or EBT card to the market information table, which the organizer places at the northeast corner of the plaza.

Market staff exchange the selected card amount for Link Tokens that can be spent on SNAP-eligible foods.

The organizer also describes a Link Match program that adds matching benefits when shoppers use their EBT cards.

The two forms of payment have different rules: Link Match vouchers cover fresh fruits, vegetables and culinary plant starts, while Link Tokens cover a broader range of eligible foods.

Ask staff to explain the current process and permitted purchases before exchanging benefits or choosing items.

WIC and Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program participants should also check their remaining checks and vouchers before the month ends.

The organizer’s benefits guidance says FMNP checks and FMNP Match vouchers expire on October 31, and not every vendor accepts FMNP checks.

Look for participating-vendor signs and ask at the information table about eligibility, matching funds and expiration dates.

Make the visit useful after you get home

A little planning can keep a casual browse from becoming a bag of food you do not know how to use.

Bring a reusable bag, review what is already in your kitchen and choose a realistic amount for the meals ahead.

If an unfamiliar vegetable catches your attention, ask the seller about preparation and consult the organizer’s Illinois specialty-crop resources for buying, storage and cooking guidance.

Those resources can help turn a single market purchase into a meal instead of another item forgotten in the refrigerator.

Prices and available products vary, so leave room in your plan for substitutions rather than expecting a particular item to be there.

October is the remaining outdoor shopping window, and the most useful next step is small: choose a Tuesday, check the weekly market information and make a short list.

Start with October 6 if it fits your schedule, then keep October 27 in mind as the listed end of the season.
